Designed By Esther Leavitt

This is a great sized blanket for an infant it is about 30” X 38”. It is made with “I Love This Yarn” yarn and is easy to make but so cute to handle. Enjoy this one.

  1. Could you please explain the 5DC together stitch? I am not quite sure how to do it and I would really like to try the blanket. It is really pretty! Thank you.

    1. HI,
I HOPE THIS EXPLANATION WILL HELP!
YOU NEED TO DO 5 DOUBLE CROCHETS IN THE SAME SPACE, REMOVE THE HOOK, PLACE THE HOOK IN THE TOP OF THE 1ST DC OF THE FIVE, AND IN THE TOP OF THE 5TH DC, SLIP STITCH THEM TOGETHER TO FORM THE POPCORN, THEN PROCEED TO THE NEXT SPACE. GOOD LUCK I AM GOING TO START ON THIS PROJECT MYSELF

    1. I wish I still had the blanket to measure exactness but they should be between and 8 and 9 inches squared.

  3. For my "popcorn" I do 5 "unfinished" double crochets - meaning I just don't do the last part so I leave loops on my hook. After 5 unfinished double crochets I have 6 loops then I pull the final loop through all 6 loops.

    2. Yes, that is the correct way to do it. I am happy I that I saw this for the lady who did not know how to do it.

    1. "I love this yarn" is the Store Hobby Lobby's brand yarn.

If you want a different yarn any Size 4 yarn should do.

    2. I love this yarn is sold at Hobby Lobby and in some colors at Walmart. It is made by the Red Heart company.

      Happy Crocheting!!

  6. Just add more squares to make a larger afghan or would there be more to it than that? I am a beginner.

  7. Yes, that would work to make a larger afghan.

  8. I am amazed that you would go to the trouble of writing this up for us!! Thank you! It's beautiful! I have printed the directions and ordered the yarn. We leave for Alaska in 2 weeks - this will be so fun to work on as we travel!!

  10. Technical question - am I right to assume that the CH2 at the end of rows 2 and 4 count as 1st double crochet in row 3? If so, am I supposed to attach my last SC at the ends of rows 2 and 4 to that chain?

  11. I am having a problem with the pattern. It does not seem to add up correctly after rows 3 and 4. I have taken it out several times. When you the popcorn stitch and slip stitch on top and then next row you do 21 DC, I get more than 21. Is there a possible error in the pattern. I am trying to do this for a shower in November but does not seem to add up. Any ideas. I am pretty good at reading patterns and have crocheted for many years. Thanks.

    2. I think I have figured out what you may be having difficulties with. I made a video for you. I always do better understand when someone shows me. Let me know it this helps or if I can help elsewhere.

    3. Thanks for the video. That helps me with row 3, but when you get to row 5 and it tells you to repeat row 3, you don't come up with the same amt of stitches because you are staggering the popcorn stitches from row to row, right. For instance my row 5 (which is to repeat row 3, does not show 4 single crochets before the popcorn, it only shows 2, so it throws it off a bit. Maybe if you could do a quick video from the end of row 4 to row 5, it would be better displayed. I took it out at least 10 times making sure I am counting correctly, but that row 5 is not the same as row 3 initially, at least the way I do it. Help!!! :)

    4. Row 5 says to rep row 3 which is: Row 3: Sk 1 SC sp, 21 DC, CH 1, turn.

I think you are trying to do another popcorn row instead. Row Three and any rep of row three are Just a straight Dc row across. So do that and Turn and then Rep Row 2-5

    5. ok, I got that, and when I went to row 4, it says to start out with 4 SC then do the popcorn stitch and repeat from * 3 times. But when I get to the 3rd time doing it, I am still off a stitch. Are you by chance using the chain 2 of the previous round as your last stitch for that? It is hard to see on the on the picture. If I do the popcorn in after the 3 SC for just the last one, all the popcorns line up on an angle and then I can get the two last SC on the hook before turning. I am sorry to be such a pain but I really want to do this for this baby shower, I already bought the yarn. I usually do not have any trouble following crocheting directions from all the other blankets I have donen in the past.

    6. You CH 2 then Do Row 3 the chain 2 acts as your first DC then you do 21 more DC's. so on Row 4 you need to used that Ch 2 as a space that need to be worked if you dont you will end up with the triangle effect and wont have a straight line.

    7. I think I got it now. Maybe it is the yarn I am using, a variegated pinkish color, hard to see those chains. I finished one square. When I did the border the sides of the square I guess you have to gauge where to put those 21 SC until you get to the corners before the 3 in each corner, right? Anyway, I did the one. Hopefully, the other 11 will go smoothly now. I will try and put a pic of it up when done. Thanks for your help and explanation.

    8. That is what I am here for;)When going around the side you do have to gauge where the stitches go. Send me a pic when you get done. I would love to see it. I will be launching a actual web site in the next week here make sure to check it out.

    9. Ok. will do. I am on my second square now, just a plain white yarn, that seems to be going more smoothly. I will check out your site. Hopefully, I can get this blanket done in another week or so.

  19. This blanket looks wonderful. It is a shame I will not be able to try it since I have to download the Doc to PDF program and I do not download things like that. I already have a PDF reader. It would be helpful if the instructions were listed right on the page with the photo.
